Mental Health Community Awareness

Mental Health Awareness for Your Community

Mental Health Awareness Education for Your Community

More than half of U.S. adults say they or a family member have experienced a severe mental health crisis. That’s a staggering statistic. Knowing how to identify a mental health problem and finding help begins with educating ourselves and our communities, including Latina, Latino and South Asian people across N.J. These 90-minute courses are designed to do just that. They’re tailored specifically for the Latinx and South Asian communities. Each course is broken down into brief lessons led by Latinx and South Asian mental health professionals who provide a culturally relevant overview of what mental health is, why it’s important and what you can do if you or someone you care about has a mental illness.

Latinx Mental Health Education and South Asian Mental Health Education Funding

Funding for the Latinx and South Asian mental health courses was made possible (in part) by Christian Health, through the N.J. Department of Human Services (NJDHS). The views expressed by speakers in the Latinx mental health education course and the South Asian mental health education course do not necessarily reflect the official policies of the NJDHS, nor does the mention of trade names, commercial practices, or organizations imply endorsement by the funders.

Content Notice: The Latinx mental health education course and South Asian mental health education course may contain distressing content including discussion of suicide, eating disorders, abuse, self-harm, drug and alcohol addiction, and stigma.
