Patient Safety Organization (PSO) Safe Tables
The Garden State Patient Safety Center – a federally certified Patient Safety Organization (PSO) - recognizes that finding robust answers and strategies to complex clinical issues can sometimes be challenging. PSO Safe Tables are forums where healthcare professionals can discuss patient safety experiences, best practices and learn from experts and each other. The setting provides a confidential, legally protected environment that allows healthcare professionals to discuss difficult topics.
Please join us for our virtual Safe Tables, and check back as we add more events. For more information, please contact Kathy Erdie at kerdie@njha.com.

Research suggests that polysubstance use during pregnancy, particularly in those cases involving opioid exposure, have significantly increased in recent years. And, although the risk for pregnant and postpartum persons is at an all-time high, trends in pregnancy-associated overdose mortality are not sufficiently characterized in the literature. This Safe Table will walk PSO members through current data and a simulated case study presentation. Participants will engage in a discussion on risk mitigation tactics for clinicians and support professionals, followed by consensus building for evidence-based screening tools, care planning and a framework for follow-up support.
