NJHA Adds Managed Care Expert to Senior Leadership Team
NJHA has welcomed Jason Friedman to its senior leadership team as vice president of managed care and healthcare financing.
Friedman brings a valuable perspective to this new position at NJHA, having served in both healthcare provider and payer organizations. Friedman’s expertise in managed care and revenue cycle management will support NJHA’s work as providers confront mounting challenges related to growing patient needs, an aging population, rising costs, slim margins, increasing regulation and shifting health policy.
He has served in roles at WellPoint NJ (formerly Amerigroup), Hackensack Meridian Health, Atlantic Health System and Summit Health. Holding an MBA from Caldwell University, he’s active in healthcare professional organizations including serving as a former board member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
“New Jersey hospitals deliver best-in-the nation care, but they must maintain a margin to support the mission,” said NJHA President and CEO Cathy Bennett. “Jason brings a new level of expertise as providers navigate great challenges including payer delays, denials and red tape.”
“Having served on both sides of these issues, Jason also understands the impact on healthcare consumers. He shares NJHA’s commitment to protecting New Jerseyans from insurance bureaucracy interfering with their care,” added Bennett.
“I am honored to step into this new role at NJHA during a pivotal time when healthcare conversations are a new daily norm in each home across the state,” said Friedman. “Having grown up in New Jersey, I have witnessed firsthand the vital role our hospitals and front-line providers play in the communities they serve.”
