PRINCETON – Denise Schwabe of Annandale and Keisha Cogdell, RN, BSN, of Marlton were recently awarded $2,500 scholarships from the Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey (HRET), the educational affiliate of the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA). 

The scholarships were announced during HRET’s annual golf outing and scholarship presentation. Awarded annually since 1983, the Health Career Scholarship program provides assistance to applicants who are enrolled in accredited undergraduate and graduate health career programs, maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better and demonstrate financial need. To date, HRET has awarded more than $165,000 in scholarships. 

Schwabe, a patient care technician at Hunterdon Medical Center, is a student in the second degree nursing program at Rutgers School of Nursing. She maintains a 3.8 GPA. 

Cogdell is pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn.  She maintains a 3.9 GPA and upon graduation plans to search for a faculty position at an accrediting teaching institution to teach and mentor the next generation of nurses.
